Jan. 15, 2008 | Jon Delaney Quintet Gig
Bennett's Lane Jazz Club at 9.30pm 15th January 2008
This will be my last gig with an expanded version of the trio before leaving for Berlin, Germany for the duration of 2008! Do try to make it if you can. We are playing some new tunes, and it should be a great night.

Aug. 25, 2007 | New Track Uploaded
Check out my composition "A Weight Lifted", recorded on the 23rd of August 2007 with the Danny Healy Quartet. Go to the MP3 page to hear it. This band will be recording late September if all goes to plan.

Jul. 15, 2007 | All About Jazz Website
The tune "The Admission", from "7/10" was the featured daily download today on the All About Jazz Website. It's a slow waltz that I wrote a few years ago and that you can also hear (but not download) on this site. You can even watch a video excerpt of the actual performance if you click on the VIDEO tab. The sheet music is also available for free download if you click on the DOWNLOADS tab. So much information.

Jun. 22, 2007 | Compositions Updated
The compositions in the DOWNLOADS section have just been fixed (there were some broken links) and updated (there used to be less of them). There are several tunes from the Cd, as well as some for a forthcoming recording with saxophonist Danny Healy, and the score for my C# Minor Fugue.

Jun. 19, 2007 | CD now available
The Jon Delaney Trio's debut CD "7/10" is now available from Cdbaby for $US12.95. You can click here to launch the relevant Cdbaby page, or visit the Shop page on my site, to essentially do exactly the same thing. The Cdbaby page also has some sound clips you can listen to, as well as a run down of the tunes and a detailed bio. Enjoy.

Jun. 14, 2007 | New Tunes Uploaded
Check out the mp3 section for two new tunes - "Manoir De Mes Reves", a Django Reinhardt tune done with a Gypsy-ish trio that I'm playing my Gitan Selmer copy in, and "Gertrude's Blues", one of mine recorded with the "Jon Delaney Trio" and engineered by yours truly. Enjoy.

May. 17, 2007 | Trio Gig 17-5-07
The trio plays it's first gig in support of the new live album "7 out of 10". Come along, it should be good. Paris Cat, 6 Goldie Pl, Melbourne.

Feb. 24, 2007 | Web Page Updated
Things are looking a little more modern, and sections have been added and beefed up. Check out the VIDEO page for some clips from the live recording. Also note the addition of the SHOP page - soon to feature the CD. There are some new tracks on the MP3 page also. Enjoy...

Jan. 22, 2007 | Pre-Mastering mixes from the CD
I've just posted two pre-mastering mixes from the upcoming CD on the LISTEN page: The Admission, and One More. Everything so far is going well. 7 of the tracks recorded look like making it on to the final product, which at present means just over 53 minutes of music. More soon. Enjoy...

Dec. 02, 2006 | New Fugue Posted and Recording Mixed
I've put up a sibelius rendition of my first completed fugue in C# Minor. Hope you enjoy it. On another topic, we mixed the Paris Cat recording yesterday and everything went well. I'll post some of it soon. Mastering in January, all going to plan.

Oct. 30, 2006 | Live recording complete
So, the live recordings are all done. I'm picking up the rough mixes tomorrow, so look out for postings on the LISTEN page. from what I've heard so far, there should be an album in it - which is good.

Oct. 30, 2006 | New Project ideas
I've been thinking lately about new projects once the Trio record is out. These include:
A) a recording of Bach's "Art of Fugue" for steel string acoustic guitar quartet, possibly paired with some improvisations and original works for that instrumentation.
B) A group featuring one or more Clarinets in a modern, expressive, quite open setting. To be composed for. Working title :"Angry, angry, angry".

Oct. 06, 2006 | Video footage from Paris Cat gig
Check out some video from the live recording last tuesday. I've got Karen's song, The Admission, and Bounce up now. More to come. Don't forget to come along on the 10th for the last live recording show. 9pm Paris Cat, Melbourne.

Sep. 26, 2006 | 1 week to go
With one week left until the first show, the Trio recording project is looking good. Rehearsals are going really well, and the new tunes sound great. Our repertoire has gained a lot more breadth in the last 6 months, and we now have quite a varied programme.

Anyway, all that is left, except a bit of practice, is for a good crowd to turn up and make the whole thing really work, so check out the dates on the GIGs page, and come on down.

Sep. 22, 2006 | Site Updates
If things look new to you here, I've done a little fiddling. I think it looks cleaner. There are some new things too...PDF downloads, including charts of new tunes for the October recording sessions, a new bio/resume, and some pictures. Enjoy.

Sep. 22, 2006 | Recording progress
Rehearsals for the recordings on the 3rd and 10th of October have been great. Tom and Ronny play the tunes so well. We have a set list finalised with several new compositions, which you can now download from this site. It's looking like it will be really worthwhile. Do try to come down to the Paris Cat and catch one of the shows.

Sep. 14, 2006 | Live Recording @ Paris Cat 3+10 Oct '06
So, we now have confirmed dates and an excellent venue for the live recording. We will be at the newest jazz club in Melbourne, the Paris Cat on Tuesday the 3rd and 10th of October. Myles Mumford will be engineering the sessions, and mixing them down in the not too distant future. Of course, all comers are welcome. We're rehearsing some new material now, and things are looking good. Hope to see you there.

Sep. 01, 2006 | Website Launch
In case anyone is here for the unveiling, welcome to my new website. I made it myself. Hope you all like it. Pour yourselves a collective cup of tea and browse at your leisure. There’s stuff about my trio, some other bands I’m in, and the successful function band “The Boptet”. There is some updating to be done yet, as I get more and more excited and obsessive, but there’s lots of music up already, and links to follow. My Myspace page (see "links") is also at your disposal if you like that sort of thing, or if you’d like to use my token of friendship to tighten your stranglehold on the internet in-crowd.

Sep. 01, 2006 | Recording the Trio
I'm in one stage or another of getting "Jon Delaney Trio" recorded. We're currently aiming for a series of live recordings in October...or some other time. There are some new tunes ready, and some very old ones. I think live is the way to do it. Maximum opportunities for something really worthwhile to happen - minimum chances to get obsessive and wierd.
